On this page, you will find a collection of lesson plans deigned to address the learning goals in this teacher work sample. You can click on each picture for a detailed lesson plan of the activity. 

The students at Wildwood Elementary went to the Baton Rouge Zoo as part of their unit on animals and their environments. 

This center allows students to explore animals and the features of their environments. The center fosters conversations centering around the comparible features of animals and their living space.

Students will engage in a counting activity using animal manipulatives and number recognition. They will have the opporutnity to use new vocabulary such as the term "herd" when refering to a large number of animals. 

Students will explore their 5 senses while matching animals to the food they eat. They will engage in a hands on learning experience that is sure to spark connections and learning.

Through an interactive read-aloud, students will strengthen their understanding of animal characteristics and their environements. Students will also have an artistic opportunity to express their understanding.
